Today, the ALMA Director, on behalf of the partner organizations and all the personnel in Chile, East Asia, Europe and North America involved in bringing ALMA to Early Science readiness, issued the first ever Call for Proposals with ALMA. The full Call for Cycle 0 projects, and all information and tools relevant for proposal preparation, are available at the ALMA Science Portal.

Please read carefully the announcement if you are interested in submitting a proposal. The Helpdesk is reachable through the Science Portal. User support is provided by the European ALMA Regional Centre (ARC) in Garching and by the seven European ARC nodes, who in addition provide face-to-face support
(see http://www.eso.org/sci/facilities/alma).

We are looking forward to receiving your proposals.

Key dates:

• 29 April 2011: Deadline for submission of Notice of Intent
• 30 June 2011: Proposal submission deadline
• 30 September 2011: Expected start of ALMA Cycle 0 observing.

A página é mantida por Gustavo Rojas (UFSCar), representante brasileiro do ESON (ESO Science Outreach Network). O ESON tem como missão atuar como representante de difusão científica do ESO na mídia dos países membros,  promovendo sua missão e demonstrando os aspectos inpiracionais da astronomia.

Além de manter a versão brasileira do website público do ESO e servir como primeiro contato para a imprensa brasileira, o representante brasieiro do ESON auxiliará a promoção do ESO em instituições como planetários, clubes de ciência, encontros científicos, etc.
